This group of paintings is my reaction to places in the real world. They are new in the way I am relating to what I see. I needed to change the way I painted for a way that enabled me to continue to enjoy the process. For me the process of applying paint is the thing that I enjoy the most. This way of reacting to the real world is a way to keep the process fresh and exciting for me. I am painting more than ever and these paintings reflect that excitement. These paintings are the result of a trip we took to Tuscany where we visited a different hill town every day. Hence, the titles of many paintings refer to the places we visited.

My physical abilities have changed as I enter my seventh decade, and these paintings are also my response to those changes. The pallet is primarily Cadmium Red Light, Cadmium Yellow Light, and Pthalo Blue. My brushes are bigger and I have more freedom to do what I want to in the process.
