Suspend your better judgment and believe in a bit of magic. Join Edgewater Gallery for fortune telling readings from the “Oracle Deck” designed and staged by Brooklyn-based visual and performance artist Eliza Stamps. The “Oracle Project” uses fortune telling as a vehicle for inquiry into the relationship between art, artist, viewer and meaning. Each deck is comprised of abstract and representational drawings, collage, and images from the newspaper. There’s no prescribed
meaning to the cards, instead their meanings are allowed to present themselves as they’re laid down for reading.

As summer stretches the last of its legs, Edgewater turns its focus to the warmth of home and interiors. While golden sunbeams smear across windows and shadows play tricks on on the eyes, artists Cynthia Kirkwood, Kathryn Milillo, and Jan V. Roy investigate the quiet moments, exploring the curiosity of color, shape, and light that bring beauty and joy to life

Presented by Middlebury Studio School and funded by The Vermont Committee of the National Museum of Women in the Arts, Victoria Blewer presents a lecture discussing her life in the arts.

Victoria Blewer grew up in Manhattan, but bolted for the quiet hills of Vermont. She works entirely with black and white films (sometimes using black and white infrared film), and then she hand-colors the im- ages. Her hand-tinted photographs have been featured in full-length photo essays in the Boston Globe Sunday Magazine, Vermont Life, Vermont Magazine and Yankee Magazine. In addition to winning national and regional awards for photography, Ms. Blewer’s photographs have appeared in numerous newspapers, magazines and books, and have been displayed in museums, private homes and offices across New York and New England. She is a graduate of Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts. She refined her art with classes at the New School in New York City, the Visual Studies Workshop in Rochester, NY and the University of Vermont. She lives in Lincoln, Vermont, with her husband and daughter. Click HERE for more images.

As August marks the anniversary of Hurricane Katrina and Tropical Storm Irene, Edgewater Gallery proudly presents the work of light sculptor Sarah Ashe, as we feature her “Rescue Convoy” - a handmade model developed after volunteering to help Katrina survivors as a way to both work through the trauma and heartbreak while remembering the individual stories.
Modeled after a Mardi Gras Parade and using found materials, trash, and items associated with New Orleans, such as king cake babies, each Rescue Convoy float tells the story of Hurricane Katrina, opening with the storm itself - a moster “Gator” consuming houses in its path, and ending with the chicken and the egg, “How do we get started on next steps?”.

Come celebrate as 8 artists interpret the magic of our beloved lakes: Moon gazing from Fern and Dunmore's shores on warm summer nights; listening to the lake song of clattering canoes gently drifting dockside, crickets and loons in the distance; the patient company of the National Forest, wise and wild, looming and large. Artists Warren Kimble, Don Ross, Jean Somerset, Michael Bober, Brian Bauer, Dennis Stevens, Cabell Hatfield and Joan Drew present their visions of Lake Dunmore, from August 13-26, and we invite you to attend our Opening Celebration, complete with live music and refreshments, on Saturday, August 18, from 5-7pm.
